Our CNC department can handle a wide variety of machining tasks on our 5-axis milling and multi-axis mill/turn machines on a wide range of materials such as basic grades of aluminum to exotic materials like Inconel or duplex.
In the days of computerized machine tools, there are still a small number of machining jobs that require the expertise of a skilled machinist to manipulate the wheels and levers of a conventional type machine tool. With years of experience, our skilled craftsmen can accurately meet your manual machining needs.
Our manual shop is equipped to handle a wide variety of machining jobs, from turning operations as large as 39” -55” in diameter and 40’ long to the smallest milling operation.
Tanksley Machine & Tool, Inc. is one of the few companies in the area that offers basic Electrical Discharge Machining operations with our wire EDM machine, which allows us to produce parts with complex part geometry, and in some cases, parts that conventional methods cannot machine.
This manufacturing process obtains a desired shape using electrical discharges. The wire does not touch the workpiece, thereby minimizing damage or distortion to thin, fragile parts.
An EDM machine can machine anything electrically conductive regardless of the hardness, from relatively common materials such as tool steel, aluminum, copper and graphite, to alloys including Hastelloy, Waspaloy, Inconel, titanium, and carbide.
DEEP HOLE DRILLING
The Deep Hole Drilling Department of Tanksley Machine & Tool, Inc. specializes in precision deep holes up to 55” deep. Extensive experience in drilling concentric holes in materials from brass to tool steels, coupled with expedient delivery times, makes us a reliable deep hole source our customers can rely upon consistently.
OD & SURFACE GRINDING
Our OD and Surface Grinding equipment can grind parts to tolerances and finishes not achieved by machining.
